What is Fortnightly?
Fortnightly provides 7th and 8th graders an opportunity to have fun with their friends while learning different dances and etiquette. Students are taught fun dance steps by trained dance professionals and have the opportunity to practice more formal social etiquette such as receiving lines, how to escort a partner, as well as other important social skills. Students are introduced to current dance styles as well. Parents are invited to attend and observe on the final night - it is a fun way to see what dance steps your children have been learning!
Behavior Expectations
Each child is expected to participate in the evening's events and to come dressed appropriately (see below). During these sessions, the children will be instructed on dances, as well as given social etiquette reminders. It is essential that the children offer our instructors and chaperones their best social behavior.
Fortnightly is a wonderful opportunity to practice grace and courtesy. If acts of misconduct occur, the student will be warned, and the parents will be notified. If the behavior continues, the student will be expelled from Fortnightly. Parents will be called to pick up their child, and no refund will be given if the student is expelled.
Please do not allow your child to bring any gum with them to Fortnightly.
Dress Requirements
All students need to dress up for this event. Our "dress code" supports the dressy attire that makes students feel most comfortable, while allowing them to express their personal style preferences.
Girls: dressy attire - tops & dress pants, rompers, dresses, or skirts; all must adhere to the Highlands dress code.
Boys: dress slacks, dress shirt, and a tie with dress shoes. Sweaters and/or sport coats are optional.
No one is allowed to wear gym shoes or jeans.
Please attend the events clean, with brushed hair and brushed teeth.
Dress Code Exceptions
We may have theme nights. On those nights, theme clothing may be substituted for dress clothing.
