Highlands Goes Hollywood Variety Show

Each year, the PTC supports the efforts for the annual Highlands Goes Hollywood Variety Show.  The proceeds from the Variety Show go to a charity, that is voted on by the students. This is a wonderful opportunity to work together for a worthy cause!  Students from Kindergarten through 4th grade, as well as faculty and staff are invited to perform an act on stage during the show.  Have a Middle School student?  Don't worry plenty of help is needed back stage as well.  A sign up link for "backstage helpers" will be sent out at a later date. We look forward to another great year to raise money for this year's charity.  

Here's all you need to know about Highlands Goes Hollywood: Variety Show 2024!

What is the Variety Show? Variety Show is our school’s version of what most call a talent show. It is an opportunity for students in kindergarten through fourth grade to perform an act of their choice either solo or in a small group. Kids will often sing, dance, tell jokes, or play an instrument! LTTV comes to record it, and there is full theater lighting and sound.

When & where is it? January 27th, 2024; Middle School Gym. Full dress rehearsal is on 1/26, and whole group practice on the stage & group picture will be 1/23 or 1/24.

Who participates? Students in grades K through 4 can participate in solo or group performances. 

My student wants to perform. Where do I start? Talk with other parents in your grade level & have your student talk with their friends. Who else do you know that is interested in performing? From there - form a group, think about what they will do as their act, and start thinking of a song for your performance! You have plenty of time to fine tune an act, and performances are only two to two and a half minutes long... it goes quickly!

How does the Variety Show help our community? Nominate a local charity to be our beneficiary! Each year, the proceeds from the Highlands Goes Hollywood Variety Show go to a charity. Charity nominations are vetted by the PTC Board, and then students in participating grades vote on one charity to raise money for. Money is raised through the coin drive held in January, and monetary donations collected the night of the show.
